Illuminating Mercy

I love the “new” Pope. I love it when capitalism puts its money where it can do some good. I love it when beauty helps us see truth. All of this goodness came together in the light show, titled “Fiat Lux (Let There Be Light): Illuminating Our Common Home” projected on the famous facade of St Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican recently.

Coinciding with the festive launch of a special Catholic Jubilee Year on the theme of mercy, images including lions, pandas and birds – alternating with polluted air and parched farmland – glittered as global leaders thrashed out a historic climate deal in Paris.

Let there be light. Let there be mercy. Save the whales. Save the seas. Save ourselves.
